Early Retirement Extreme – a very brief summary

This post about coffee (well, sort of) led me to this book, which looked interesting.

Having scan read the book in 30 minutes I’d say the main points are:

– don’t take credit,
– spend as little as possible,
– save/invest as much as possible,
– analyse all your life decisions to see if you can reasonably reduce costs,
– be a well developed person.

The author’s story is that he got PhD then worked for five years, saving 80% income, then retired. He isn’t rich but he has enough money to live forever as long as he lives frugally at a level that is acceptable to him. I’m sure selling the book helps him.
