Notes from the Worcestershire Badminton Association 2014 AGM

County association has £27k in bank, which is the same as last year. This money is available for clubs to do coaching and work with juniors.

Fixtures secretary, Margaret Hargreaves, resigning after 26 years. Replaced by a volunteer from West Mercia.

BE representative:
– New national professional televised league. Our local team is in Birmingham.
– Trying to improve participation. Keen for ideas.
– Keen to offer computer systems to support competitions, including county leagues.

A West Mercia proposal to allow two teams in same division to share each un-nominated player once was defeated by one vote. WM’s reasoning was that the current inability to share players between two teams in the same division made it difficult to manage all their teams. I argued that WM shouldn’t have so many teams as this is bad for the other clubs and for competition in general. (They have over sixty members!)
